Summary : Simply Excellent
I have not done everything this system is capable of yet, and I probably never will. I do like having the choices, though. I bought a refurbished set for much less than a new set, and it's perfect. It looks great, the readout on the right speaker is really cool, and the sub packs a serious punch. Contrary to another reviewer, the volume on the remote is simply just turning the knob- that's it. Bass and treble settings are easy too- just push the center button to select them, then turn the knob. It doesn't need knobs on the speakers as it comes with a nice (and SIMPLE) remote. It gets as loud as you should ever need in a bedroom, but maybe not enough for a larger living room. It sounds awesome.

Summary : Sad that its no longer being made
Got these speakers when they were only 79.99. Man do I love them. The remote that comes with them is an absolute joy to use. I've been using it to sit back and watch Instant Netflix movies through media center, and only remember i'm watching on a computer when the network slows down. Speaker sound is what I would call Normal quality, definitely not bad, but also not excellent. I originally had them set up with a Windows Vista 32bit system, had no problems with them with that setup. Upgraded the OS to Windows 7 64Bit and have been having issues with the entire sound program crashing, not just Z Cinéma but the entire audio. No sound at all even from the old speaker jacks. This seems to occur when one tries to play a DVD on the computer. For all other functions it hasn't crashed in 7 yet. Same hardware as before, just upgraded the OS. I feel this is due to the OS and not just the Z Cinéma. But it may be and issue to keep in mind.

I bought these last month for my husband as a Christmas gift. Last month the price on this item was about $79 on amazon. I went based on great reviews these speakers received on Amazon. I installed the software on a computer running Windows XP. However I am very disappointed in these speakers and now I have a brick. You have to remember that it recommends Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista. Although logitech claims on their site that it also supports Windows 7, many people have complained that it doesn't work properly and the worst part is that logitech has no plans for further software updates.

Here are the problems that I have with my speakers (and apparently these are common problems many other people have as well ---- go read the z-cinema support forum on logitech's website.

1. Produces constant static.....this is very random because sometimes it works but most time it produces so much static
2. The subwoofer even when base is turn at the highest volume is very low --- when I put my ear next to it, I could barely hear anything
3. Support is horrible. I feel bad for people who bought these speakers for over $200 ---- remember people even logitech is claiming these speakers are "End of Life"

I already spent over 10 hours trying to problem solve this and it's very frustrating. I think I'll just have to take this as a loss and throw these junk speakers out. I vow that I will NEVER buy another logitech product again.

Summary : INCREDIBLE PC Speaker System!!!
I spent a ton of money back in 1998 for some special Altec Lansing speakers (with subwoofer) that I have enjoyed for the past 11 years or so years. I've upgraded my PC about 5 times since then but always kept those speakers - I really liked them. Recently I noticed some rattling from the sub - a sign that age had started its work on the paper driver. I did some research and found the Logitech Cinema-Z system...at an awesome discount. Reviews were mixed - especially slamming the surround sound software - but I decided to give them a go anyway just because the price was so attractive ($79.99 plus 21 bucks for shipping this very heavy set).

I received them 12/25/09 (yep, Xmas gift from the wife). They shipped just fine (no damage) so I opened them up and was struck by the quality of their appearance. Hooked the right/left speakers up to the sub, hooked the sub up to the PC via the supplied USB, plugged in the sub to the surge protector and fired up the PC. The device driver software loaded automatically without any prompting (I'm running Windows 7) and they immediately were operational and pumping out the sounds. The sub fit nicely under the desk and the satellite speaker cables (for me) were more than long enough - but I can envision some applications where they not be long enough.

I chose NOT to load the Logitech software that came on the supplied disc for a couple reasons. 1. This software has been reported to be "buggy" by a number of reviewers and I don't want to have to use Windows Media Center to control these speakers....and 2. I bought these for computer speakers. I use them to listen to tunes as I work in my office (as I am doing right now). If I want to watch something in surround sound, I have a perfectly fine Denon/Pioneer Elite/B&W 7.1 system in my family room. I don't find my office chair comfortable enough for watching a movie.

The hefty supplied remote control can be used to control volume and turn the speaker system on and off and to control normal music listening functions (track forward/back, pause, mute, etc.) in Windows Media Player. If you don't want to use the remote (or lose it), you can still control volume via the mouse and the little speaker icon in the tray at the bottom right of your monitor. You can also modify bass, treble and other enhancements via this same icon.

Sound quality: for PC speakers I have NEVER heard better. The satellites are crisp and clean sounding with great separation and the sub provides a very nice bass fullness without being thumpy and in your face. If you are still in your teens and like it thumpy, you can adjust it to make it that way. These are nice and loud but will not actually blast you out of the room - but, come on, these are computer speakers, they are not meant to be the center piece of an adult's home theater system. Even so, I would never listen to them at full volume - that would just be just plain uncomfortable. Currently I am listening to them about as loud as I ever would in my office and volume is set to 50%...and that is only possible because my wife is not in the house. All that said, I noticed no distortion at full volume.

I gave it five stars because of the price, build quality, overall apperrance, ease of set-up and astounding sound quality. I did not deduct for the surround software as I've not used it and don't intend to. Full retail price for this system is near $300.00. I would never spend that much on computer speakers. But at $79.99 plus shipping, this system is an awesome deal!! Get while it is still available!

Summary : Best PC Speakers I've heard.
I bought these speakers to replace my 38W Phillips speakers because on the Phillips, the bass would flat line. I got these and I have to say there is 99% no distortion. I did hear distortion ONCE when I was watching a YouTube video but it was just in the left speaker and it's never done that before so I believe it was the video. The bass is crazy, I turn it to it's max with no distortion and my window and room ceiling light rattles. One thing I don't like is the Z Cinema software included. That software is there for the SRS Surround Sound only and honestly I don't see a need of it. I mean it's nice to have but if the software is going to crash all the time and simple games (NFS Shift) run significantly slower then I don't want the SRS Surround sound or the bundled software. But for just the speakers without the software, A+. Also the remote is nice to have when listening to music and your not at your computer desk.
